 World Team

As you all know the USA team lost again to the World team saturday night 112 to 98 here in Portland, OR at the 2013 Nike Hoop Summit. Behind the quiet but deadly play of 6'9" forward, Livio Jean-Charles of France.  Leading the way in points with 27 along with 13 Rebs, Livio also took home the honors as the 2013 Nike Hoop Summit games MVP.  Unmatched with the size and length of the World team, the USA team lost this game on the backboards and free throw line.  With the World team making 10 more free throws while shooting 73.8%, and out rebounding the USA team by 15,50 to 35.

A fast paced high scoring contest that may have seemed like a game of runs, but this game was all about the World team. Coming out focused with intense pressure and confidence their biggest lead reached up to 18 points.  Although, able to keep the USA team at bay there was a charge Lead by the 3 headed monster of Jabari Parker(Duke) 22pts, Julius Randle(Kentucky) 19pts, Andrew Harrison(Kentucky)19pts. The USA team was able to make runs and managed to take the lead by 2 at one point but the World team was just to much on the glass Mouhammadou Jaiteh(France)9rebs,Andrew Wiggins(Canada)9rebs, Joel Embiid(Cameroon)7rebs for the the USA team to handle.

Definitely a game that featured a lot of future college, pro and NBA stars. A wonderful event that has some of the country's and world's best U19 boys high school players up close and personal. Nike has provided us here in Portland the opportunity and chance to witness history in the making. And with that, attendance was down this year with only 6,265 cheering fans, players, parents, media and agents in attendance.
Were we all just too busy or has the urge for the game changed?......... You tell me?
